Small things that made my April just a little bit better.

exploring

I’m new to tea-dying but have recently found myself obsessed with the results. Lately all manner of fabric, ribbon, and paper have not been safe from my experiments.

reading

I’ve had Sibella Court’s book, Nomad for at least 10 years and I am constantly pulling it off the shelf for inspiration. It’s filled with timeless color combinations, uniquely decorated spaces, and common objects used as art.

Live the full life of the mind, exhilarated by new ideas, intoxicated by the romance of the unusual.
— Ernest Hemingway

eating

I highly recommend this delicious Lemon Pound Cake recipe by Ina Garten, a subtle lemony delight. I like to serve it with berries and add a dollop of whipped cream as a garnish. Yum!

inspiring

I’ll let you know upfront that this Video of the Alps is probably too long to watch in its entirety. My suggestion is to view it for a few minutes when you need a break. You’ll be transported into a picturesque world. Scenic. Tranquil. Breathtaking.

No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.
— Charles Dickens

following

YouTube: If you enjoy growing flowers (and even if you don’t!) Floret Farms is a favorite. Books, Documentary, Seeds.

Pinterest: Myquillyn Smith of The Nesting Place has well-curated boards full of inspiration. And a new book.

Instagram: I just love everything about the art Josie Hamilton creates. She inspires me to push the envelope when I want to play it safe.

blooming

I have a love-hate relationship with my wisteria. The profusion of blooms is so shockingly lavish that right this minute I love, love, love it. Sadly it will soon become a troublesome rascal sending shoots 10 feet up the side of my house (only a slight exaggeration) requiring constant maintenance. Each year I threaten to take an axe and chop it down…..

Everything that slows us down and forces patience, everything that sets us back into the slow circles of nature, is a help. Gardening is an instrument of grace.

considering

This idea sounds fun and the name alone makes me want to give it a try. Not Charcuterie (as in this photo) but Jarcuterie. Take a look.

selling

This portrait is one of my favorites from 2023. She is painted on a 24X30 canvas and titled, No Ordinary Life. $725 + Free US Shipping

Nothing will stop you from being creative so effectively as the fear of making a mistake.
